Urk-Art Blog

Plan, manage, write, design, art direct, photograph and edit posts for the Urk-Art blog. Wow, seems like a lot when I put it like that. Blog posts range in topic from DIY and Home Decor to Eats and Book Reviews. I try to make this the one place my personality can become integrated with my design.

PRINTABLE POST – MOTHER’S DAY FLOWER WRAP

This post really took a homemade gift to the next level by giving my audience something I designed to print out and use when creating their projects. I wanted to keep the pattern simple, but also make the project visually appealing. The result is a graphically bold addition to a bouquet of flowers wrapped up as an incredibly easy DIY gift. HOLIDAY POST – FOURTH OF JULY STRAWBERRY FLAG

For this post I stepped outside of my usual areas of expertise and did a food DIY. I wanted to make the post really easy to follow, but still be cute and playful. In other words something that my readers might actually try themselves. I came up with this chocolate covered strawberry flag idea that is actually perfect for most American holidays, and was super tasty! VIEW IT HERE.

DIY POST – TERRARIUM PINS

This DIY post combined a few of my favorite internet trends; pins and plants. I wanted to create a DIY that wasn’t impossible for readers to complete so that they would actually wear the pins. I designed three different terrarium shapes for readers to print/trace to make it easier for those who aren’t perfect artists. It is an added bonus that my DIY version, unlike store-bought enamel pins, has the same cool transparency as a real terrarium would. VIEW IT HERE.

PARTNERSHIP POST – PARABO PRESS VALENTINES

Partnering with California-based printing company Parabo Press, I created a DIY Valentine post to help promote their 4″ square prints. VIEW IT HERE.

FEATURED POST – MACRAME PHOTO WALL HANGING

This fun DIY post has been featured on Shutterfly.com and Remodelaholic.com.  VIEW IT HERE.
