Embroidered Door Sign

09.06.16

The way that my apartment building is laid out can be a little confusing for someone who hasn’t been there before. There are several different buildings, many doors and not very good signage connecting everything together since it is such an old building. I wanted to make a cute little sign for my door so that anyone coming to visit me can easily identify which door is mine!

Well…I Moved

09.01.16

Hey everyone! As you may have noticed I haven’t been posting much at all lately. These summer months have been crazy busy with people visiting in addition to me moving into a new apartment! Now that everything is starting to fall back into a nice routine and my place is almost looking how I like it I wanted to start sharing things with you all again!

Wood Shoe Decoupage

06.15.16

I picked up this awesome pair of wooden shoes from the wooden shoe shop in Holland Michigan when we were there for the annual tulip festival. You can see more of the photos from tulip time BY CLICKING HERE. When looking through all of the options of shoes I picked the plain wood knowing that I would want to customize them later with a painting or drawing.

Mermaid In A Tea Cup

06.02.16

I was in rather a drawing mood this week when I decided to make this vectorized drawing of a mermaid in a tea cup, because quite frankly if I were a mermaid I’d wanna sit in a hot tub of tea too. Then I turned her into a line drawing coloring page to do some fun color studies out of >>

Cactus Glass Pot

05.31.16

ALL OF MY PLANTS ALWAYS DIE. And I seriously don’t know why I suck at keeping them alive. But this little cactus…well he is a special cactus. Out of my nice bowl of succulents I planted in March this cactus is the only one still standing, AND before I planted my little bowl of succulents he was the only one still standing from the previous batch.

Millennium Park Afternoon

05.26.16

Yesterday was such a beautiful day people couldn’t help but spend as much time outdoors as possible. After a long lunch break of enjoying the sunny day, my boss actually let me out a half day early to enjoy the weather.  I was able to enjoy some time in Millennium Park and walk along the lake front briefly before catching a train back home just in time to miss the thunderstorms the rest of the evening. This small gallery of photos just goes to show how pretty the city of Chicago can be.

Zebra Sweater Pillow

05.24.16

This cute pillow project is a fun way to keep old sweaters that no longer fit, but you still love. This particular zebra sweater is one that was destined for the donation bin after shrinking in the wash. I loved the design on it though and wanted to turn it into something that I could continue to enjoy for a while.

DIY Denim Skirt

05.19.16

It’s been such a long time since I busted out the sewing machine and actually made something for myself. Especially something I liked enough to really wear. I felt really inspired and after a short trip to JoAnn’s, I came home with a few yards of a soft light blue denim. After playing around with a few ideas I decided to make a simple high waisted circle skirt. This cute, simple diy isn’t as in depth as I would normally go but will show you all in a general sense how I made it.

Patio Pillows

05.12.16

Warm weather is pretty much back and I figured that it was more than time to update my mom’s front porch pillows. As you can see the burlap ones she made last summer did not hold up too well through the elements. So we went to the fabric store, picked out some brand new outdoor fabrics and I set out to replace the pillows for her.
